Lunch at Hatched

Jessica from Malaysia was in Singapore last weekend, and we met up for brunch at Hatched, the new outlet located at Holland Village. Comfortably dressed up by Alvila, we made our way down to Holland Village. It was surprisingly packed when we arrived at 11am. I was expecting much lesser people around given that it was a Sunday, a day to sleep in.

French Toasts, Eggs and Bubble Tea!

Anyway, they had this really colourful menu that was alittle confusing for my liking. Prices range starts from $12 for a single egg Benedict. We ordered the French Toast, Egg Benedict and a Baked egg item.

Disappointing Egg Benedict

The Egg Benedict was really disappointing, given the fact that they specialises in Eggs. Egg Benedict should be one of their best, but sadly not. Even the presentation of this dish was rather plain. I would have expected them to serve one good looking and tasting egg. Definitely not going to be on my to-eat list the next time I visit them.

Baked eggs served with toast

This egg item was my favourite. 2 eggs, cream, bacon, onions and cheese baked and served with toast. Don't judge a dish by it's cover! haha...all the goodness hidden inside this thick layer of cream & cheese. Loved how the bacons, onions gave this mushy dish a crunchy texture, and makes it more savoury. Might be very heavy for one to finish by themselves, but a good sharing dish. :) And at a very affordable price of $12 only.

Lovely tasting French Toast

French Toast, the best dish. 2 thick toast, melted with eggs and cheese(for the savoury taste), topped with peaches, walnuts and maple syrup. The perfect combination! I loved the sweetness of the peaches, and the crunch. Not a big fan of the walnuts, so can't really comment about it. A small portion perfect for 1 person, but it's good for sharing as a desert if everyone else had their own main dish.

We also saw some of their chocolate deserts, but did not try them cause we were too full. As for the service, they seem to be in a hurry to chase us away. Kinda hate it when you dine at these places, and even before you can put your utensils down after finishing the last bite, the service staffs starts clearing your plate. Hello! Chill lax mate! I personally find it annoying and irritating. All service staffs should have the etiquette, to give the customer some time to settle down before clearing the plates. It's rude to be asking whether your plate can be cleared when your mouth is full. How am I suppose to answer you when my mouth is full!

After lunch at Holland Village, we headed to town for our manicure & pedicure. The sister decided she would be doing her Gelish nails, and I decided to tag along. I am very sceptical about the whole Gelish thing, do I opt for my normal manicure.

My first time doing matte nails. I am a very safe person when it comes to my nails, and I always go for the usual colours - brown, red or french. But this colour/design caught my eyes, and so I decided to try something new. I have to say I love it, but this pretty french design didn't last me more than 2 days. It started cracking today, when I am back at the office doing my paper work. I sometime wonder how these office ladies manage to keep their manicured nails lasting for so long (at least more than 2 days!), especially when they have to be opening drawers, taking folders etc.
It's going to be a busy busy week, with matters to settle at home, dinners with the friends and the Australia Commissioner gala dinner. Til then, be good.

The Holidays

After a long tiring night of MJ til 4am, all I wanted to do was just to "nua" at home. I have no idea how did I manage to pull through all the late nights..it was so draining, it took me the whole weekend to recover. So much for ageing! haha..

Anyway, we brought Yoda to Botanic Gardens on National Day, and man, it was packed with kids, families and dogs! Not too good of a place to be walking him, when every single dog he sees, he starts going wild!
Had lunch cum tea at Food for Thought. The food was rather disappointing this time. Prices have increased at least 10%-20% for the all day breakfast set, and you no longer get to choose your favourite 3 items from the selection. The quality of the items have also dropped significantly. Even my favourite thick toast doesn't taste as good as it was.

We recently did an allergic test for him, and it tickles us to know that one of his "trigger" is a CROCKACH! haha...and many more like 5 different types of Grass/Weeds, Corn, Carrots and Barley. It's a pretty interesting test, though it is freaking expensive for just blood sampling! So to all dog owners who are facing the same problems as us, maybe you would like to bring your dogs for a blood test.
As for now, we can be at ease knowing what he is allergic too. Hopefully no more scratching and vomiting. :)

Mummy and the sisters.

Yoda & Diana

Last Saturday, was just thinking of staying home to recuperate from the MJ, when the sister suggested Prawning. At midnight, we drove all the way to Lim Chu Kang for bbq prawns and chicken wings. By the time we got home and washed up, it was already 3.30am. So much for staying home to rest. Then again, I would have to say it's pretty fun. :P
And you will be surprised by the amount of people there! It was full house, and it was not easy finding a good spot for 6 people. And yeah, you need to be at a good location to be able to increase your chances of prawning!hehe...
Was at the farm mart almost 1 year ago, and nothing much changed. Took awhile to brush up my prawning skills. Had to get used to the 'Hook and Tug" technique the sister was talking about. We were pretty lucky, managed to catch at least 20 prawns for 3 hours. Even manage to bbq them for supper before we head home.

Photo Blast. Pardon the very slack look, it dark and quiet in Lim Chu Kang, and we were all lazy to "touch up".

Sisters!

Was at Dempsey last night for dinner with the buddies. We wanted to go to HV, but then a change of plans. Which was good, because we had a good time. :) After turning in circles for awhile, we manage to find parking. Then it was walking around for awhile before we settled at House. Food was much better than before(many years since I went there for dinner). Instead of their usual truffle fries, we had the pumpkin hazelnut fries, dusted with paprika powder. It was ok, but the fries were really soft. The very generous serving of paprika powder gave the fries an extra touch. Then as usual, we over-ordered. I wanted to go small and so I chose the Garlic prawns with coucous, and a parsley mash potato. Which was actually too filling. The mash potato came in a huge serve. But man, it was damn good! Soft fluffy mash mixed with parsley and drizzled with truffle oil. Ohh yummy..definitely my next favourite place! Buddies had the Squid Ink Paella and the Skinny pizzas, which was good too...especially the thin-crusted pizza. No photos as we were really hungry, I completely forgot the photo-taking part. If that's not enough, buddy wanted B&J ice-cream! Yeah, so we head to B&J and I attempted to stuff myself with a scoop of chocolate fudge brownie..but I failed. :P

Hermes: Gift of Time + Graze + Melb Uni Fireworks Event

We (sisters & I) were at the Hermes: Gift of Time exhibition held at the Tanjong Pagar Railway Station last weekend.

It was a simple yet interesting event, showcasing Hermes works & creations from the start. So, apparently, before making leather goods and apparels for human, Hermes was making Horse saddles! That explains the horse logo etc.
Just looking at the quality and the softness of their leather, so soft, I think you can sleep soundly on it! :P

A Hermes sachet, door gift from the exhibition. Perfect travel pouch for all the ladies' products etc.

After that, it was lunch cum tea at Graze, located at River Valley, just opposite Gallery Hotel. It was a nice, bright place with plentiful of space. We ordered the Wagyu beef burger and French toast to share.

Perfect for the sweet-tooth. French toast with sliced bananas, strawberries and blueberries. Topped with custard sauce! My perfect weekend treat. Totally worth the calories!

The wagyu beef patty was very juicy and moist. Other than that, the burger was not extraordinary.

It was a good feed for 3 hungry souls. Not that it was all big servings. Just that we are really small eaters who gets filled up really quick, and gets really hungry easily. Only issue I had with this restaurant, was the weird-smelling tables. You know how when they use the same table cloth to clean the tables over and over again, then comes this weird stale smell? Yeah, that's what happened. The smell didn't manage to escape my already blocked nose, and the water cups had the exact same smell. Not too pleasant.

Back-track to Saturday evening, we had the privilege to attend a private Melbourne University event, held at Orgy's at the Esplanade. It was a gathering for the Alumni members to enjoy the fireworks display, at the exclusive space. It was a lovely night spent, as we met many nice and fun people.

P/S: Looking forward to our next Melbourne Uni event - Gala Dinner at the Orchard Hotel. Yeah baby, time to get that long evening gown out and start dressing up!

P/S: Gosh, I feel so old and aged! :P Just a night of MJ with the gang til 4am this morning, and I feel so hung-over. Thank god it's a holiday today, and things are not too hectic at work.

Alvila's Outdoor Shoot

We (Alvila team) were up early last Saturday for our outdoor photoshoot. I love how supportive and cooperative our team is, models having to bear the heat, tip-toeing in the water(p/s its cold and slimy), walking barefooted through the muddy landscape, the list goes on and on. But still, they manage to pose naturally and perfectly for the camera. We were so glad to have many beautiful photos that day.  And maybe it was our lucky day, because the night before, there was such a heavy downpour, which in turns made our morning cooler. Then there was this sudden downpour(YES, again!) right after we finish our shoot. Thank god for the perfect weather. :)

Having only started out for a year, I have to admit we got quite a good team here. We sisters have worked hard being models & photographers, setting up our flea events, marketing, selecting and purchasing of clothes and even customer service support. And our lovely models, who played a big role, looking good and photogenic for our website. Not forgetting the parents, family members, friends and customers who always visit us at our regular flea, *Scape, bringing us food and drinks! Big hugs to everyone who has played a part in our Alvila journey. Thank you for all your support, and we strive to continue bringing you gorgeous fashion apparels.

 Some of our behind-the-scenes photos:

our photographer trying to get the best photo, even if that means lying on the damp muddy ground.
Natasha posing beautifully for the camera.
Keeping cool while we view the photos.
Look out for these really beautiful corporate pieces we will be launching soon!

btw Leng, you look lovely with the umbrella and mosquito patch!

Cirque Du Soleil - Saltimbanco

It was a fun-filled night at the Cirque Du Soleil, we had so much laughter and "wows" throughout the entire show. It was like watching the Olympics live and with more colours and actions!

As photography & videography was not allowed in the show, photos shown below are from Cirque Du Soleil:

A male & female duo, twirling bloeadoras in the air.

This 2 man group is POWERFUL! Engaged in a hand-to-hand duo, pushing their bodies to the maximum strength.

Ending the show with 4 bungee performers. Swinging, dropping and flying in the air.

What's a circus without the Juggler? This sheer speed, precise movement is an analogous of the many things we have to juggle in life.

One of my personal favourites. A group of gymnasts swinging and taking into great heights before a perfect landing.

Bright vibrant colours, they make climbing a pole look so easy. :P

My favourite. A team of 3 elegant, sleek moving gymnasts, in a show of strength, flexibility, balance and grace. Just stunning.

Eddie the jester, a clown.

It's my first time watching a world class performance, and it was just amazing. I love how they interact with the audiences. Best laughs when Eddie the clown is performing. He moves so freely around us(the audiences), and imagines and creates his own scenes. For those of you who have not watched it yet, hurry and book your tickets before the show ends on the 5 August. A must watch performance! Looking forward to more from them.
